Frequently Asked Questions (Canadian Customers)

Payment Options

Is it possible to place an order WITHOUT using a credit card?
Most definitely. Spun.com actually provides two payment options that don't require a credit card. The first option is to place a "sell only" order through the site and then wait for the credit to be placed in your Spun account. We'll send an email when the items you sold to us have been checked in. Then you can place an order with us using that credit.

The second alternative is by sending us a PayPal payment in advance of buying from us.

Payment via PayPal can be sent to us at paypal@spun.com . PLEASE be sure to include the email address associated with your Spun.com account with your payment. Please note that PayPal payments will deposit as USD into your Spun.com account after any PayPal processing fees take place.

At this time we accept PayPal funds from any of the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Virgin Islands (U.S.)

Upon receipt of your advance payment, it'll be placed into your account for future purchases. As always, we'll let you know via email when that happens. PLEASE be sure to include your email address with your payment.

PLEASE NOTE: When purchasing items after a PayPal payment, we cannot guarantee availability or pricing of items. We also do not manually place the order for you. The credit will be placed in your account so that you can place the order through the site.
We always hope that our customers who don't want to provide us with credit card information will consider these payment options.

How do I know my credit card number is safe traveling thru the world wide web?
Spun.com utilizes a number of encryption and security devices to make your shopping experience a safe and happy one. We utilize SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to encrypt your information before it is sent over the Internet. All of your personally identifiable data is private and is never shared with or bought by any outside organization. We advise all of our users to protect their credit card number by never sending that number (or your Spun password) via email. Our Customer Service representatives will never ask you for this vital information. Instead, you can securely update your credit card by logging in and visiting your Account Page.

If I'm buying and selling items in one order, and my order total is a credit, why do I need to provide you with a valid credit card number before it can be processed? Isn't it true that I won't be charged anything?
This is a security precaution in case the CDs, DVDs and video games being sold to us don't arrive or are in unacceptable condition. Only then would your credit card need to be charged.

How do you even know that the credit card I give you is real?
We place an authorization with your bank. An AUTHORIZATION is NOT a charge -- we merely check your credit card to make sure that it is valid and that the address and other information are correct.

Can I just sell stuff to you guys to accumulate credit??
Absolutely! You can place a "sell only" order through the site, pay to ship your stuff to us, and then wait for the credit to be placed in your Spun account. We'll send an email when the items you sold to us have been checked in. Then you can place an order with us using that credit or have the credit cashed out at 100% value. Please let us know if you would prefer a check, credit or PayPal payment upon check out.

What is this $1 USD charge from Spun.com on my credit card bill?
Rest assured, this is NOT a charge -- it is what the banks call an "authorization." In order to verify that credit card information is valid, Spun asks the bank electronically. To perform the check, some banks place a "hold" on a small amount of funds, often one dollar. This allows their system to verify that an account is active.

Every bank handles this differently -- but the funds remain in your account.

I have a bunch of credit that's been sitting in my Spun account. Rather than using it to buy more CDs, video games or DVDs, can I get a check instead?
As long as you have at least a trade-in credit of (-$10.00) in your Spun account (excluding promotional credit), you're welcome to 'cash it out' at any time. Just notify our Customer Service Department that you'd like to have your credit removed, and we'll instruct our accounting department to cut and send you a check or make payment to your PayPal account. Spun.com accounts are cashed out at 100% value.

What if one of the items I ordered isn't available? Do you credit my credit card for the cost of that item?
We never charge for an order until it's been made as complete as possible. If an item needs to be canceled from the order, we'll change the order total BEFORE we charge your card. You'll always be notified via email when this happens.
